NOB HILL... AN ATTITUDE NOT AN ADDRESS.... ............. ........ ...................JANUARY 2009

Coming In February:

In February, the Gazette takes pause in the bluster of mid-winter to warm things up with a focus on romance. For those of you in the single lane, we offer the bright and the bolded, currently unattached, in our celebrated Annual Most Eligibles List.

We also indulge in the beloved standards to woo your loved one: Jennifer Raiser focuses on chocolates and sweets suggesting the perfect confection for your particular mate; Ed Schwartz discusses wine and romance in his monthly Wine Wisdom column; Steven Oliver’s Taste reveals the most romantic spots to dine; and theater writer Chad Jones takes a look at the intimate playhouses around the Bay Area (a perfect date-night outing!). Merla Zellerbach takes an inside look at love with a look at how and where some couples met.

Travel writer Donna Peck takes us on a cruise of some of the new exciting places ships are taking passengers (in style, of course!) these days. And our décor aficionado Sandra Swanson shows us how to “illume” — not just light — one’s abode.

All this headiness is balanced out by looking forward to your appointment with the Tax Man! However, our Worth Reading writer, Rick Glaze, tries to help ease the pain. Also enjoy our regular monthly features: find out the latest about the local boldfaced and beautiful, and those from afar through our tuned-in Hollywood columnist George Christy (Celebrity Watch). Keep an eye out for our Do-ers page, the Real Estate Showcase feature on the finest of elegant living now available on the market, and party pictures of you and your pals at major charity events around the Bay Area. (If you weren't there, you'll surely want to see who was!) Challenge your wits with Victor Turks' Quick Quiz, spin around Martin Swig's Wheels, and turn to Seriously, Though for a chuckle with our humorist Asher Rubin.

Ed. Note: Sometimes, usually for space reasons, the stories we expect to run are moved to a later date. So keep watching for them…

Opera Guild's ‘Tis the Season

SF Opera Guild kicked off the holiday season with its annual ’Tis the Season celebration to benefit the
Opera’s music education and outreach programs. Co-chairs Sobia A. Shaikh and Stephanie Tuttle transformed
Alexandra’s in the Westin St. Francis into an ultra hip lounge. Partygoers enjoyed nibbles from top restaurants,
aperitifs, auction items and spectacular views overlooking Union Square. To complete the party’s ambient
atmosphere, the duo flew DJ Jayme Thalee in from the “Big Apple.”
