Trained at London’s Central St. Martins, Chandan Allen’s clothes are crafted with high-end luxurious fabrics. Her deft use of color and extraordinary attention to detail were on full display at the opening of her newest boutique, Mélange, at Stanford Shopping Center. “Every style is designed with the Silicon Valley woman in mind,” notes Allen. These pieces are made for the woman who juggles time between home, family, work, friends, but looks forward to her happy hour.”

Prior to opening this store, Allen retailed her clothes in high-end boutiques throughout South Africa. “This store is a smaller sample of my brand in South Africa, filled with my signature designs,” she says. “The best part of my job is seeing the genuine reactions from real customers who buy my products. When a woman walks in my store and tries on a gorgeous dress, her face lights up, and that to me is the most rewarding.”

When asked what sets Mélange apart, Allen reflects, “We offer a custom alteration service that gives customers the option to get their ideal product altered to fit their needs. If a woman tries on her perfect dress and the sleeves are a tad too long, we can have it altered in less than 10 days, which is a service not a lot of companies can offer. I think that’s really special.”
