Famed Swiss skincare firm La Prairie hosted an extremely chic “Caviar Dinner” at the de Young Museum to introduce its latest Skin Caviar Eye Lift. Each sumptuous course was a caviar pairing—Blini Caviar hors d’oeuvres, Olivier Potato with Caviar; Waygu Beef with Black Truffle and Caviar; and Milk, Honey, and Siberian Sturgeon for dessert. Fantastic wines, including Ruinart Blanc de Blanc, André Brunel Les Cailloux Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2014, and a melt-in-your-mouth honey Vignalta Orange Muscat Alpiane DOC, complemented the food. And, oh yes, even the butter (for the bread) was topped with a scoop of caviar!
The incredible event brought together the idea of beauty in its many forms, from the culinary artistry of the cuisine to art in the form of photography. At the recent Art Basel in Basel, La Prairie partnered with three female Swiss photographers, Daniela Droz, Namsa Leuba, and Senta Simond, to interpret the beauty of the gaze for a special exhibition titled Eyes in Focus.
Indeed, La Prairie has long been a pioneer in anti-aging cell therapy promoting the physical beauty of skincare, but the firm has also pursued its vision of timeless beauty through the prism of art. Precision-designed packaging is influenced by the codes of the Bauhaus—geometric, elegant simplicity, clean minimal lines, abstract shapes, and pure striking tones—all existing in harmony. The iconic cobalt blue bottles pay homage to the artist Niki de Saint Phalle. La Prairie believes that it is essential to support young, forward-thinking artists, while remaining sensitive to timeless works of art.
