Saffron: Chef-owner Ajay Walia closed his Michelin-starred Rasa in May and a month later — in the same Burlingame spot — opened his second Saffron (the original is in San Carlos). Guests can now enjoy a renovated space along with a new menu, described as “heritage Indian cooking,” with dishes such as travancore fish moilee, lamb curry and daal makhani. Une Femme Wines: The sparkling wine brand cofounded by Jen Pelka, formerly of Hayes Valley’s The Riddler, just debuted a new quencher on Delta domestic flights. The Betty, a light and versatile Blanc de Blanc, comes in 250 ml cans and is made from grapes sourced from sustainable vineyards in the Central Valley. Lan Jaenicke: As a follow-up to her Jackson Square atelier, the San Francisco–based designer recently introduced Maison Lan Jaenicke in Sacramento Street’s burgeoning design district. Goods from the likes of Santa Maria Novella and Flamingo Estate are offered alongside custom linens. 1 Hotel San Francisco: There’s a swanky new boutique hotel in town, occupying the former Hotel Vitale location on the Embarcadero. Its nature-inspired design includes reclaimed timber, native greenery and rustic stones.
