Who says making a lasting difference in your community can’t be an evening of delicious food and fun? Twenty-two of the most prominent Bay Area chefs showed off their dazzling skills at this year’s One Big Table gala, where 400 guests feasted on haute cuisine to support the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. Led by Chef Tyler Florence of Wayfare Tavern, the lineup included Parke Urlich and Justin Baade from Waterbar, Larry Finn of Credo, Raj Dixit of Michael Mina, Dominick Maietta of Coqueta, Melissa Reitz of Locanda, and Charles Phan of Slanted Door. This year’s Community Partner Honorees were Joann and Jack Bertges, who have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past two decades of work with the Food Bank, and Rita Nguyen, whose medical expertise supports a Food Pharmacy program that uses food as medicine for people with diabetes and other illnesses. The funds raised at this year’s gala were enough to provide more than one million meals for people in need.
