It’s true—romance is always in the air at weddings. That’s how Sophia Englert and Taylor Burks met. “We were at a mutual friend’s wedding in Sonoma,” recalls Sophia (daughter of Anne and Steve Englert). “That friend,” adds Taylor (son of Tom Burks and Daphne Dark), “was best man at our wedding!”
Sophia knew that she wanted to hold the ceremony and reception at the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton. “My parents were married there 43 years ago and I spent my childhood growing up at the Club. The couple enlisted the expertise of Isabella Sikaffy to create their dream wedding, with a ceremony on the polo field officiated by a family friend, cocktails on the terrace, including a signature drink—Tex Mex sangria margarita (a nod to the groom’s Texas roots)—and an elegant sit-down dinner and dancing. “That dance floor was never empty,” exclaims Sophia. “Everyone had so much fun.”
“When Sophia and Taylor thought about the most important goals for their wedding,” recalls Sikaffy, “they wanted a traditional vibe and a stress-free day full of their favorite people, good food, great music, and beautiful flowers!” Mission accomplished.
“Exiting the Circus Club under a dazzling tunnel
of sparklers held by our friends and family,” smiles Sophia.
