On a chilly mid-January night, the annual FOG Design+Art Fair Preview Gala was the hottest ticket in town. The seventh edition of the soiree, benefitting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, drew a sold-out crowd of more than 1,800 to the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. Guests were greeted by the 21POP installation, devised by Stanlee Gatti and featuring the creations of California College of the Arts students. The evening offered a sneak peek of the art, design objects and furniture presented by the 48 galleries participating in the four-day fair, which opened to the public the next day. Culinary stations allowed gala attendees to nosh on delectable treats, from sushi to fried chicken sliders, while sipping on design-centric cocktails and even boozy ice cream floats — all by McCalls.
In addition to Gatti and his fellow FOG Steering Committee members — Douglas Durkin, Katie Paige, Allison Speer, Susan Swig and Sonya Yu — among the local luminaries spotted at the event were Neal Benezra, Jim and Penny Coulter, Helen and Charles Schwab, Kaitlyn and Mike Krieger, Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem, Juliet de Baubigny, Ken Fulk, Sabrina Buell, Yves Béhar, Leo Villareal, Barry McGee and Sophie Calle.
