“Fashion is a game,” says Sonya Molodetskaya, the creative mind behind her own clothing brand, Major Obsessions. She identifies her personal style as eclectic and has a “no limits” approach when it comes to her wardrobe. “You don’t see too many people having breakfast wearing feathers and sequins, but I think it’s totally appropriate. Why not wear sequins or feathers to breakfast?” A huge admirer of Anna Dello Russo’s high-voltage fashion sense, Molodetskaya chooses her own outfits largely based on her mood. “And it’s always colorful,” she adds. The fashion rule-breaker describes her lifestyle as fast and ever-changing, so her wardrobe must keep up with that pace. “Everything I own is very flashy, seasonable and trendy. Every item always stands out. Especially with social media, you don’t want to wear anything twice. My eyes just simply get tired looking at the same things. The minute I wear [any of my] shoes or clothes, the second time, I’m not going to wear it again.” Once a season is over, the racks in Molodetskaya’s vivid closet get cleared out to make room for the new au courant selection. And the fashion game begins again, one sequined step at a time.

Spectrum Frequency

“It’s not a secret that I am a huge fan of color,” muses Molodetskaya about the kaleidoscopic JW Anderson dress (which could be matched easily with any shoes and accessories). In this ensemble, she opts for green Balenciaga boots: “I am obsessed with Balenciaga lately, and have this style boots in three different colors.” The cherry on top? Molodetskaya adds a canary-yellow clutch from the floor-to-ceiling Hermès collection displayed in her closet.
